Hi John, I'm not sure why g-s-d isn't starting for you, can you check
your ~/.cache/upstart/gnome-settings-daemon.log files? I think that
should be filed as a separate bug. Do you recall ever experiencing the
problem before trying the package in trusty-proposed?

I tested gnome-settings-daemon (3.8.6.1-0ubuntu11.1) from trusty-
proposed, and the fix works for me. I'm marking this as verification-
done. Please, if anyone has any severe regression, please do as Brian
Murray explained above, add a comment here and change the tag to
verification-failed.

Hi, a stable release update for this was proposed for 14.04 in this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-
daemon/+bug/1318673. It's a duplicate of this one, but please try it and
use that bug for the SRU verification process since ~ubuntu-sru is
already subscribed there.
Hi Romano, thanks for testing the PPA. I took the workaround and filed
an SRU for it here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
settings-daemon/+bug/1318673. For anyone who is affected by this bug
under GNOME Shell, please use that bug for SRU testing and verification.

Hi Saveliy, you can try the PPA above as long as you're not using Unity
with the shift key as your input switcher, it seems to be working in
most cases.

In GNOME Shell, switching between latin and non-latin keyboard layouts using
the XKB group options (e.g. ctrl+alt, alt+shift, etc.) doesn't work. This is a
big usability problem for users that often need to switch layouts quickly, as
using a typical shortcut with
