Tried on 10.10 (with gnome-shell) and the bug is there also. Te
attatched log (.xsession-errors) shows the moment when error happened
and then me trying to reboot.

Confirmed bug in Maverick. The first time i tried choosing invisible
the second time it kinda worked. Then, it didn't work anymore.

In my case, the bug shows up when clicking the button to disable the
touchpad. Once clicked, no gnome panel, no keyboard, just the USB mouse
moving (useless). The only thing that works (for a short period of time)
is ctrl-alt-del.
