Resolved. dmesg|tail showed a failure on 'check'. I looked at fstab,
found the entry, removed the check instruction. Now it mounts properly
& I can access the data on it. Sorry, I forgot about dmesg output .

However, gconf-editor shows only system|storage||default_options no matter how
