work fine now! Thanks Milan.
It was interesting that in heron the dvds were working, then after the
update they stopped. The above command fixed it though

Currently using Hardy Heron and I Love it! Sure, it's still beta, but
I've had hardly any problems.
After a most recent update, however, the totem movie player stopped
playing DVDs. This worked on the initial install of BETA, and because

Binary package hint: rhythmbox
If you pause a song in Rhythmbox, go on standby, then open up the
computer and unpause, the song does not play. Audio is still there
(tested in other programs), and you can resume simply by closing
Rhythmbox and reopening.
