The issue was not a bug and was resolved when I selected click to move from
the control menu. It might be helpful that click to move was a default
setting. For me it was not and it took me a while to discover the option.

it's a very stupid default behavior. I've experienced this on archlinux too, so

I'm having a similar problem and I'm quite certain it is not a file
system problem (fsck is happy). I think there is something wrong with
the pre/post installation scripts for the gnome-games-data package.

I tracked this down to a network setting. I had set a domain name, but only
run Windows as a workgroup.
Once I removed the Domain, the synaptics package manager started working in the
GNOME environment.

To reproduce:
Mount /home with NFS.
Create a launcher on the desktop.
Edit the launcher, and click on the Launcher tab. The dialog box closes.
This only happens when /home is mounted from NFS.

Here is the strace output. I attached to the running nautilus process
and then triggered the bug. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of junk
output in the file.

I'm not sure how to get the stack trace via gdb. If I say something like
gdb nautilus then nautilus executes and forks, causing a detach,
leaving gdb without anything meaningful. If I say something like gdb
--pid=1234 to attach to my running nautilus, then nautilus hangs until
I quit gdb. I have

each update?

The only workaround I found is to rebuild the PDF file in a way that
avoids the unprintable boxes, or use Adobe Reader to print the PDF. Any
open-source PDF reader I know about use Poppler which suffers from this
problem.
