Here are a few things I have noticed.
In Ubuntu Hardy I have all of the floppy drive problems mentioned in
this thread.
In Xubuntu Hardy the same floppy drive and disk work as expected.
Both Ubuntu and Xubuntu use the same kernel and gvfs but Xubuntu uses
Thunar as it's file manager. So, would
The original bug is still present in the Hardy Final Release 32 bit.

I am running Hardy alpha 5 with Firefox 3. This bug is with any
application that needs to browse the file system. For example, if you
open Gimp choose, File, Open, you will notice that the file system is
not an option in the left pane of the window. All applications currently
have this issue.
When I use gedit and open /desktop/gnome/interface/file_chooser_backend
gconf I get two empty pages, file_chooser_backend and gconf.

Same here, still no floppy drive. The CD-ROM problem seems to be

Here is another screenshot showing that there is no Filesystem option. I

By applications I mean Gimp, Firefox and anything else that should have
the ability to browse the filesystem. Firefox is a good example because
if you need to get to /usr/bin/ to change applications Firefox uses for
