Thanks for reminding me of this.
Bug has not be experienced since a long time.
I recently switch to another computer with a intel video card.
As a result I will not be able to reproduce the bug anymore.

Looks like I've got the same kind of bug: Gnome-panel disappears when switching
on/off the second display using twinview via nvidia-settings :
- gnome-panel disappears, but it's still running: Cannot register the panel
