I have Ubuntu 9.04 installed on this machine as well as a Toshiba Satellite notebook. On both machines I tried to play the following 5 types of files: 1. mp3 2. ape 3. rmvb 4. avi 5 mkv
With both machines I was instructed to install extra plug-ins and I did so. On the Toshiba notebook Totem works beautifully with all 5 files. On this machine, when I moved the mouse on top of the mp3 and ape files (on desktop), sound came out nicely. However, when I right-click to open the files with Totem, Totem started up and I can see the file name loaded on the right hand panel then Totem switched off immediately. The same happened when I tried to open the video files, except that no sound was played. I have issued the following command sudo force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport restart according to Ubuntu Wiki to restart apport and hope this would help. -- Totem crashes after installing restricted extras https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442839 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
