with VA-API or VDPAU. According to Julius in comment #9, MPEG4 part2
(xvid) files will not decode with gst-launch and VA-API. This may be

It seems Marcel was right about cairo. The rendering issue is fixed and
the document renders a lot faster on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail with
the following packages:
evince 3.6.1-1ubuntu3
poppler 0.20.5-1ubuntu3
cairo 1.12.14-0ubuntu1
I can also fix the rendering issue on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise
Still occurring in both Nautilus and Evince on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring
Ringtail with evince 3.6.1-1ubuntu3, poppler 0.20.5-1ubuntu3 and cairo
1.12.14-0ubuntu1.

The fix has been released in gstreamer 1.1 but it is a development release and
it's developers explicitly recommend that distributions do not package it. All
changes in gstreamer 1.1 should eventually appear
