This bug affects me too on Karmic.
Personally, I suspect that this could be a bug in Nautilus ! When I copy
something, or when I make a right click on the Desktop and after 2
seconds I have a white background !
No special message with conky -D.

This bug is not present in gvfs. I tested with ubuntu 9.04, and everything
works OK.
However, it no longer makes sense to make this bug belongs to gnome-vfs. It
used to appear in totem, totem now use gvfs, so it doesn't appear anymore ...
and nobody care about gnome-vfs.

Ok, this bug is invalid.
In fact, I first let rhythmbox index my sftp-accessible music collection, and
as nothing appeared, I considered it was broken and tried by Dnd.
What happened is that rhythmbox was busy scanning my collection.
