*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 437429 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437429
This bug can be worked around by:
sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/sound/event_sounds --type
bool false
However, there appears to be no GUI method to toggle this as existed in
the previous GDM
Jeez. I can't believe I went through the whole karmic dev cycle without
catching this! Here's what I'm experiencing:
*SUCCESSFULLY suspend when on AC per the time setting in Power Management
*SUCCESSFULLY suspend on lid close
*SUCCESSFULLY suspend via GUI or hotkey
*SUCCESSFULLY start Screensaver
Ugh. This bug is back. This was previously sorted sometime in the karmic
dev cycle, but now after release I am affected by this again. At the set
time to activate the screensaver, my screen dims to black as if about to
start the screensaver, then snaps back to full display brightness.

Still seeing this error regularly in Karmic beta. Any progress toward a
fix yet?
Is any more debugging information needed from users?
