Do you also get crashes if you use any other tool like the pencil or
brush?

Can you check your XorgLog.txt or XorgLogOld.txt in /var/log/ and
compare it to the one in the link?

I can confirm these symptoms on a Thinkpad with an Intel GM965 graphics-
chip. I therefore this seams to be independent from the graphic card.
