Works perfect in Hardy. After moving Item4, item4 moves up and still is
selected. So closing the bug. If you still find problems please feel

Yes. I can reproduce what Philip has as well the problem while moving up
a menu item. What happens is as below.
Say the sequence after the seperator is like below with the selection on Item 3
Item 1
Item 2
Item 3
If I move Item 3 up by one then the sequence is like below with the selection
on It

I still cannot reproduce your problem with moving up (and what you
describe doesn't seem possible looking at the code). However, I can
reproduce your problem moving down.

I'm now using Gutsy (alacarte 0.11.3-0ubuntu2). Still the same issue.
100% reproducible.
Here is again how I see this issue :
Open the "Main Menu" application.
Select "System / Administration" in the left pane (Menus).
Add a separator in the right pane (Items) after the 4th entry.
Select the 6th
I cannot reproduce this bug. I tried very hard to get the logic correct
for moving separators but as a comment in the code says it'll probably
break if you have two separators close together. This is because
separators have no unique identifier to locate them. Is this your
problem?

the bug. My bet is on the separator but I haven't check the code.
