I haven't had to externally kill evolution since updating my software a few
days ago. I'm hopeful that the program improved. It was quite a
nuisance---every time I wrote a message I had to save a copy of the text before
sending so it wouldn't be lost. I was restarting evolution 8 times a day

check the ''Never load images from the Internet option
I'll bet that solved the problem rather than a change to

This started happening to me a few days ago too...
There are 2 warnings on the terminal:
(evolution:28155): evolution-mail-WARNING **: Failed to write data to cache
stream: Operation was cancelled

In Preferences - Mail Preferences - HTML Messages, checking the ''Never load
images from the Internet options solves the problem for me. The Unknown
background operation status notifications go away when I do this.

When evolution owners changed from open office to Libre Office and the
various folders relocated within the directory I did not understand how
to make the transition; it went poorly. Could this be related to the
