I had this same problem, when running Audacious from a base Kubuntu Hardy installation. It would complain about not being to connect to the bus, which is required to prevent multiple instances of Audacious from opening. Thank you for the suggestion of installing dbus-x11, it works with that

I have the same problem running kubuntu gutsy, and with ubuntu-desktop installed. I get always the error: Failed to open connection to session message bus: Failed to execute dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session running gnome applications from kde. Installing dbus-x11 fix that. --
