I had this same problem, when running Audacious from a base Kubuntu Hardy
installation. It would complain about not being to connect to the bus, which is
required to prevent multiple instances of Audacious from opening.

I too see this bug, on upgrading to hardy on my rather minimal (non-
GNOME) system on which I still run gnome-settings-daemon in order that
my settings will be applied to GTK apps.

I have the same problem running kubuntu gutsy, and with ubuntu-desktop
installed. I get always the error:
Failed to open connection to session message bus: Failed to execute
dbus-launch to autolaunch D-Bus session
running gnome applications from kde.
Installing dbus-x11 fix that.
