I had the same problem with a .zip file: while I can correctly
uncompress it from the command line, the graphical interface returns an
error (wrong password). Although I can't provide the .zip file for
privacy reasons, I wanted you to know that this is not an isolated
problem.

I use the Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty version. I'm afraid I can't. The file I had
with the password bug is about 100mb big and contains private data. But I
can give you a few informations about it:
It was packed with Winrar 3.51 under Windows XP.
If I find an example, I will give it to you.
