Generally, I find this new Nautilus dialog of 'connect to server'
problematic. There is no assistance showing what protocols are available
and what format to use for each protocol, to say the least. Can you

which format they want
I found the solution in 'Ask Ubuntu'. sshfs package is not automatically
installed on a clean Trusty install. It should be automatically
installed. 'sudo apt-get install sshfs' & restart allows (e.g.
ssh://192.168.1.4) entry into Server Address box of 'Connect to Server'
dialog.

I've already tried ssh://user:password@server (in the Search box,
replacing user, password & server appropriately) but it did nothing.
'Browse Network' looks like it's a Samba facility, which I don't want to
use as all my boxes are Ubuntu.

What is the workaround without using the CLI to connect to an ssh server
in order to access files on a LAN PC?

I suggest that is is of high importance since there is now no obvious
method to connect to an ssh server in order to access files on a remote
or LAN PC.
