Public bug reported: In the french Ubuntu version, there is a very bad important error in translation :
When copying a file over another that have the same name, Ubuntu ask if it must be overwrited or not. In the english ubuntu version, we have two choices : Skip or Replace In the french ubuntu version, the choices are : Ignorer ou Remplacer ( this is equivalent to ignore or replace, this almost means the same thing in that position ) French people will probably hesitate and don't know what to do because the given choices finally mean the same things. So this can easily lead to data loss if people doesn't know what to do. The good translation should be : Conserver ou Remplacer or Annuler ou Remplacer or Sauter ou Remplacer ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: language-pack-fr (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: language-pack-gnome-fr (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: language-pack-fr (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: language-pack-gnome-fr (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- Important error in french gdm translation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/140881 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
