Public bug reported: I'm trying to move a file from one smb share (with underlying ntfs filesystem) to another smb share (with underlying ext4 filesystem) by cutting (ctrl+x) and pasting (ctrl+v). [I mentioned the underlying filesystems but it actually doesn't matter. moving from ext4 share to another ext4 share doesn't work too.]
Nautilus gives me an "Error while moving."-message and describes it with "There was an error reading the folder [...].“. "Show more details" tells me "No such file or directory". I click cancel and Nautilus creates a folder (sic!) with the exact name as the file i want to move. So if i try to move the file "foo.baz" it creates the _folder_ "foo.baz" in my target smb share. Copying files works without any problems as far as i can see. On my virtualbox win7 moving works flawlessly. So I think it is a problem in nautilus. And i think this problem occures for about 4 weeks now. Bug probably came with an update. smb log tells me nothing. samba server is Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS OS with samba package version 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.7. ---- Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release: 14.04 samba: Installed: 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.7 Candidate: 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.7 Version table: *** 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.7 0 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1433288 Title: Nautilus fails when moving files from a smb share to another: To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1433288/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
