[Bug 146381] gnome-appearance-properties crashes when switching from None to Normal in visual effects

Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot from gutsy live CD on a system capable of supporting visual effects (I'm using a dell d620). 2. Open appearance preferences from system-preferences, select none. 3. Close appearance preferences. 4. Reopen appearance preferences, select Normal.
