the unstable version in Natty.

Our experience is indeed different. I simply cannot make the pointer
appear using a trackpad. It often takes me upwards of 5'' to find the

Just wanted to say that I too find window resizing to be a pain. I'll
be changing the config file to widen the border. In case it matters,
I'd vote for the addition of a border width control to the configuration
UI. Seems like Appearance/Theme/Customize.../Window Border would be a
natural place

frequency that this bug would be encountered for the average user, I agree, it
should be higher. A simple task such as resizing a window should work better.

definition files, and there are some themes that are set to provide
thicker grab bars than others. In my personal opinion it should be a
theme-independent setting that is configurable by end-users via a GUI
control.

How would you customize a hotspot?
I'm seeing - radiance - a kind of V-shaped 'hotspot' for resizing from
the corners that is 1 pixel high, possibly 7 pixels wide, at for
instance the right-hand side of the top of the window, then 1 pixel
wide, possibly 7 pixels high, at the top of the right-hand

As mentioned above, the Ambiance theme in Ubuntu 10.04 has a 5-pixel
bottom border; and the corner regions of this border (a region of about
5-by-15 pixels -- I'm not sure) is usable for grabbing to resize the
window.
However, the newer version (1.7) of the light-themes package currently

I think the usability (or lack thereof) of a user interface should not
depend on how it looks like. For instance we don't expect the theme to
define the pointer speed, double-click time out etc either?

IMHO resizing of windows should always be comfortable and intuitive (Microsoft
can do it, can't Ubuntu/Gnome/Metacity??).
Jan, I don't think the border needs to be visually thicker, just the
invisible one.

agree with Scaine (on 2007-11-13: #2): Resizing windows is
cumbersome, frustrating and far too easy to get wrong.
For me, a border/corner click will show the resize icon, then many times

Since I'm new to linux, I asked someone who's more season'd if there are
any plugins or tools for window resizing... he wasn't aware of
anything... So I asked him... how would someone do it... he said you
could write a compiz plugin to do it.
