Public bug reported: Suddenly, as of a couple of days ago, Evolution stopped connecting to the network. After a bit of digging, I found that I can invoke it with the GIO_USE_NETWORK_MONITOR environment variable set to "base", and then it works just fine.
--> this works <-- $GIO_USE_NETWORK_MONITOR=base evolution & This happened coincident to having my kid the budding IT guy set my machine to a fixed IP address, but I have no idea whether that's related. In the absence of a fix, a better workaround than invoking the thing from the command line would be appreciated. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release: 16.04 $ apt-cache policy evolution evolution: Installed: 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1652661 Title: Evolution won't connect to network unless forced To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1652661/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
