I'm not very sure if I followed all the steps right, but here it is.
By the way, the gdb is a bit tricky to use, even following the step-by-
step wiki.

P.S.: This time only the blank window appeared.

It seems that, although it didn't show any sign of having written the

Nautilus locked after playing a mp3 file
Have just happened again. This time I was able to capture the icon-
switch issue, and this time the blank window stating that some folder
couldn't be opened was a lot different. Here are screenshots of both.

Also, I tried to skip rebooting my PC, by restarting just the x-windows
(using ctrl + alt + backspace), but the login textbox did not show up.
It just showed the plain Ubuntu beige on the whole screen.
