It seems to me that gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg was already installed in 9.04
either by the 1st time setup or by one of the regular updates. I think I
did not do it. However, what I want to inform here is that with 9.04
which follows regular updates installation of ffmpeg either by sudo apt-
get or
Same on Ubuntu amd64 9.04, doesn't work with Sony Ericsson w810i codec,
whereas the realplayer works

I used the medibuntu repository, installed:
http://packages.medibuntu.org/jaunty/mplayer.html
http://packages.medibuntu.org/jaunty/libamrwb3.html
http://packages.medibuntu.org/jaunty/libamrnb3.html
You have to use mplayer (or smplayer) to play your files. Cheers!
My file info:
$ ffmpeg -i
So does 9.04
amr files are produced by Voice Recorder in most models of Nokia mobile.

any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue

I have this under Hardy. Below is Totem's konsole output (no hard out debugging
symbols or anything, sorry, haven't read up on all that)
NB I'm using Xubuntu Hardy. I installed Gnome Settings Demon a few hours ago
for something else, but I'm still in XFCE4
