Title:
Some desktop files don't open with double
Based on comment #2, this appears to not be a bug. The mode 777
(rwxrwxrwx) specifies that the files were executables so should be
executed on double-click and not "opened" with any app.
Please log a new bug for your remaining issue.

Although I imagine people are going to keep hitting this problem if they
copy files from FAT mounts etc.
