This is the correct behavior: gedit shouldn't copy the selected text in the clipboard because (if you don't use some special applications such as glipper) this will overwrite the previous copied data. This can be very unconfortable for most of the users. For example, if you copy an image from

I didn't explain the problem well: I don't want to copy the selected text in the ctrl-v clipboard. I want to copy it in the middle button buffer! This is done in gnome-terminal, so it can be also done in gedit. In gnome terminal, when you select some text, and then click elsewhere the buffer is
