you can send a SIGSEGV to the softwares while they are hanging which
should triggert apport and allow you to send a stacktrace, just make
clear in the description that it didn't crash but that you triggered it
to get a stacktrace

This is a long outstanding bug in evolution and/or evolution data
server. It's been around for atleast a year or two and nobody seems to
be looking into it. It is intermitent and almost impossible to
reproduce. As nobody else seems to be doing anything about it I thought
I would try and get the dev
It create extra work for them and we have to deal with hundreds of bugs
daily, it's better if you submit a detailed backtrace as mentioned on
the wiki page instead, thanks in advance.

Why are you not able to use the two core dump files to get this
information? They should let a developer invstigate the state of both
applications when the programs are stuck.
