Open System-->Preferences-->Sessions from the menu and check the list of
`current sessions` and `startup programs`. Is there an entry for totem
in the list? If it is there, what it is pointing to (i.e. what it is
doing)? Remove the entry from both the list, go to `Session Options` and
press `Rememb
