According to some quick tests on Lucid, I confirm that it works, deleted
pictures are put in the right trash folder (.trash-1000 of the partition
in my case).

I think this bug is fixed on Lucid's version of gthumb. Can anyone test
it and confirm this bug closed?

Yes there are new versions on Debian packages but are on unstable:
http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/g/gthumb/gthumb_2.11.1-2/changelog
Is there any chance to make this package (2.11.1-2) on Lucid?
--
gthumb does not put deleted items into the new trash system
@VPablo, Lucid already have 2.11.1-2

There is a problem with your actual build (I don't know if this is the
problem you said). Both gthumb and gthumb-data are 188 kB packages
without the program.
Thanks for the PPA.

I'm on Hardy. My workaround is to symlink .Trash to the .local... as
LCID fire suggests.
Is there any reason not to do this? I don't see any, but I'm a novice.
Thanks.

It is also confirmed on Jaunty but in home directory the program deletes
files onto the real trash and not in the ancient one.

Christophe Bisière's patches are part of a much larger change in svn
trunk, and can not be used against the 2.10.x series.
The transition from gnomevfs to gfile is going dreadfully slowly, due to
a lack of upstream developer time and interest.
If any Ubuntu developers would like to speed this
Ok, thanks. I hope this transition to be implemented as soon as
possible.

This bug is quite... important as I lost some images thinking that they are
going into trash...
The good news is that I found them in ~/.Trash but for maybe 90% of users the
photos are just lost forever...

Just encountered this today. I wonder why .Trash is not simply symlinked
to the new location!?
