Thank you for your bug report. The way upstream solved it is that they
used ctrl-f8 as default keybinding, and that's still the default and
working correctly on my hardy installation. Do you have a
.gnome2/accelsgedit which redefines this key? What locale do you use?
Not sure why F8 is not working
Do you have a .gnome2/accelsgedit which redefines this key?
I do have that file, though I don't know how it was created. Does it always
exist, or does its existence suggest that some customization has been done?
The file contains this line:
; (gtk_accel_path
the line is commented which means it's using the default. do you have a
.gnome2/accels/gedit? what locale are you using
it's not clear to me why there is a .gnome2/accelsgedit, I think that's
an upstream bug, usually it's .gnome2/accels/gedit, the way this is
working is that the default
the line is commented which means it's using the default. do you have
a .gnome2/accels/gedit?
Yes, and it contains this line:
; (gtk_accel_path
Actions/ExternalToolsPluginToolActions/ExternalToolTool-4A733B74 F8)
what locale are you using
en_US.UTF-8
if you active the option in the
hum, ok, let's try something else, what does those list:
- which gedit
- dpkg -l gedit
- strace -f -e open gedit 21 | grep build

I'm very sorry. I was using an old svn build inside jhbuild. This is
fine in the regular Ubuntu-installed gedit.
Thanks for your (wasted) time.
