I have the same problem, but not with firefox 2/3
I just installed 3.5 and its not in the list
firefox-3.5-gnome-support is installed but i cant choose ff3.5 as default
browser

closing the bug, firefox 3 is stable now and there is no real need to
list outdated versions in this list, firefox2 users can set a custom
command

thank you for your bug report, you can use a custom command as a
workaround, confirming as a wishlist though I'm not sure that's worth
changing, a new firefox3 version should be uploaded next week and using
the new version is recommended
