I experienced also things no more working after going from Gutsy to
Hardy:
to some ftp servers I can't connect no more (with places-connect to server), I
get a invalid answer message.

reported, but feel free to report any other bugs you find. The issue has
already been discussed on several bugs, gnomevfs was not doing any
mountings and the icons where special bookmarks, now you can use
standard bookmarks and gvfs
