I have this same problem
When using Nautilus as root (running Nautilus with gksudo) and clicking on the
trash in the sidepane the Ubuntu system becomes continuously busy the memory
consumption climbs until the system become unstable with the mouse becoming
jerky and forcing a reboot the 1 GB
Ubuntu 8.04 with Nautilus 2.22.3
I can reproduce this bug, too. When you open nautilus with root
permissions (gksu) and click on the Trash icon, the system becomes
unresponsive with a memory leak until the point of hard freeze. It is
near impossible to generate a bug report, because there is no
Root nautilus trash selection freezes nautilus and eats memory until
nautilus killed.
This manner of closing bug reports is trifling. There is no crash
report generated in all instances. In my case Nautilus never crashes,
just hangs and eats RAM. So in this case, what report is to be
submitted?
