GDM does not start gnome-session when logging in
in previous versions of ubuntu, gnome-session was used. now, if you
login multiple times under the same username, gnome goes crazy, applets
won't load at all or will complain thoroughly. like i said before, using
xinitrc to start gnome-session seems to be a sufficient workaround, but
i've not

session do you select on the login screen? could you attach your
.xsession-errors when getting the issue?

Currently hardy, but it was also present in gutsy. There's no errors,
per se. I just don't think it should be done this way. I can login fine,
everything appears to work correctly, but there's no process for gnome-
session. It doesn't appear that it's ever started. Like I said, I can
work around
oh, is your issue than debian and ubuntu have a wrapper which makes the
process being named x-session-manager and not gnome-session in the
processus list? how is that an issue in any way?
