Reasigned to pulseaudio. Had a very similar (if not identical) problem on my
Fedora 9 install. Found that I couldnt play a music CD or, this time an .ogg
(ok the fedora configuration of pulseaudio is totally non functional (for me
atleast)). Removed all traces of pulseaudio using fedora
