I too have this problem. It is hard to replicate but occurs about 30% of the
time I open an instance of nautilus.

click on the location field and then back to the area where the files

do you use the browser or spatial mode? that works correctly on my
intrepid installation using both mode, maybe the bug has already been
fixed in the newer version or it could be specific to some of your
configuration

ok, I found out something.
Bug is in Hardy Heron with all updates.
How to reproduce:
1. open nautilus (just after the system started or after you haven't used it
