Yes, unchecking the Unredirect Fullscreen Windows option seems to have
resolved the non-working screensaver for me with Ubuntu 8.10 and Intel
gfx. But a true fix would be preferable to having to uncheck this

ISO BUILD: 20080929
SYMPTOMS: Compiz prevents the screensaver kicking in properly
CAUSE: Compiz. If I switch compiz off it works as expected.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1/ Install Ubuntu on a system with intel gfx
2/ Let it run
Closing bug. It seems to of fixed itself with the latest set of
Updates. I'll re-open if it occurs again.

Nick thanks for the info. But I'm not actually sure is it the screen
saver causing the issue. I think it is just the visible cue to a
different issue which is why I didn't add the screensaver package to the
report :)
