Yes, for me it also plays as slideshow. Totem says it's WM8 format.
Maybe installing win32/64 codecs from mplayer will help.

If you get the same issue with banshee then this is more like a
gstreamer issue rather than a totem one.

Normally it's a workaround to use VLC instead (also has a mozilla
plugin) but right now there is bug #275980 which disables RTSP[1]
support in VLC.
