Sorry to hear that, but yes evolution wasn't very stable during the 2.23
cycle, however thing are getting better now and most of the tricky
issues were fixed but they are still some issues with vfolders read
counts for example but they shouldn't cause any major issues like lost
of emails, etc.

This is currently not an issue for me because I have switched to
Thunderbird+Lightning in the meantime. I have therefore stopped to look
for a solution to this issue and cannot give you any news.

no solution yet. have re-installed evolution with the same result.
regarding local builds and such: I did have some dependency issues a couple
of months ago after changing package sources for synaptics, some libraries were
apparently in the wrong version, but I had hoped this was fixed and I
weird that you get the issue on several users and no ubuntu user get the
same bug. did you install some local builds or something which could
break the ubuntu version? that seems to be a local issue

when launching from the console I get the following message
(evolution:11448): libecal-CRITICAL **: e_cal_get_static_capability: assertion
`ecal != NULL' failed
(but I am not sure if this is related to my calendar issue.)
when launching evo for an other user, I get the same issue. I started
