Same problem with Ubuntu 8.10 final (amd64 and i386).
F-spot complains that photos directory does not exist. It should look for
Bilder as I am from Germany and so use german localisation.
I also can't change the default import directory of f-spot. It's just greyed
out.

A way to resolve the problem is launching f-spot with the command:
$ f-spot -p ./Immagini
Where IMMAGINI is the folder where you keep your pictures

This also occurs with a fresh installation of 8.10 (Release Candidate)
using the en_CA locale (Canadian English). F-spot seems to be looking
for /home/user/Photos when the precreated folder is called Pictures.

F-spot complains that /photos directory does not exist (in the italian
release of the distro it's Immagini) and i can't change the default
