Oh yes, now I see totem is back to life. But I never ran it by console
(in normal conditions) and now I caught another error message:
** (totem:23243): WARNING **: Failed to create dbus proxy for
org.gnome.SettingsDaemon: Could not get owner of name
'org.gnome.SettingsDaemon': no such name
The released fix does indeed fix my problem. Now everything works, right
up through the appearance applet, which was relying on gnome-settings-
daemon, which seemed to rely on gst.
