The issue happens when converting from different evolution version (in my case
the upgrade is important) and from different architectures (from x86_64 to x86).
In upstream one of evolution developers marked this as RESOLVED as it was fixed
in next evolution versions.

I think the importance of bug should be set to high as you cannot import
email accounts (just if they are great) from latest LTS release to the
new one.

When migrating from 32Bit 8.04.1 to 64Bit 8.10:
When I start Evolution it tries to convert old mail folders into new
format and crashes (see Valgrind report):
$ G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck

(evolution:8217): camel-WARNING **: camel_exception_get_id called with
NULL parameter.

file or directory
GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:136: failed to allocate
that's a different problem and should be filled as a separate report,
if there's no backtrace of the crash i'm closing this bug then, thanks.

Hi, I'm back at the computer with this problem and thanks to Chi, that
did it.
But now I get an error on every new mail, that forwarding on bogofilter
did not work, error-code 3.
Any ideas?

I've been suffering the same problem since upgrade to Ibex from Hardy. I
managed to fix it by temporarily moving my ~/.evolution folder.
1) mv ~/.evolution ~/.evolution.bak
2) Started evolution with no problems with fresh settings
3) rm -rf ~/.evolution
4) mv ~/.evolution.bak ~/.evolution
