Huh, why invalid already? we didn't figure out this bug comes only from
ping. It could be a wrong dependency or sthg like that.

Ok launchpad is not making things great today, I did commented here, but
anyways. This is not a gnome-nettool issue since ubuntu ship as default
iputils-ping and not inetutils-ping which is why the program doesn't
work, you can either submit a wishlist bug for inetutils-ping requesting
the -b

I could't reproduce the bug. when I execute gnome-nettool -p
72.249.171.160 the application it works without problems.

As the error comes from ping, I tried this:
$ ping -b 72.249.171.160
ping: invalid option -- 'b'
?: not implemented
So it should be coming from ping itself?
Can someone second that? What is the -b option? I don't see it in my man ping
page.

thanks for the report, not confirming, tried the same command and it
works fine for me. this needs to be confirmed by someone else having the
issue.
