I think this is still a bug, not Wishlist. It should be possible to get to the
sound preferences though the System-Setting menu, instead of (or as well as)
through the volume control panel applet, which is the only way to do this
currently.
Also, in the panel applet the button is labelled

Thanks for the response but where would I then find the system sound
settings and volume control panel? The Volume Control button from the
speaker doesn't work. I attached a screen shot of my preferences menu.
In terminal gnome-volume-control returns ** (gnome-volume-
control:6684): WARNING **:
gnome-volume-control is a gnome-media component, open a new bug rather
than reopening this one, that works correctly on my installation, not
sure what is wrong on yours, did you restart your session since the
upgrade?
