I get similar behavior on Jaunty (updated from 8.04, through 8.10 to 9.04 now).
It happens occasionally that I've read all the mail in my inbox. There are non
left in bold, and yet the inbox count shows 1 unread. Screenshot attached.

I can confirm this behavior in Ubuntu 8.10, Evolution 2.24.3. It seems
as if most of the time it happens with my inbox when the message is
read on another system (Windows, using Outlook).

thanks for the report Pete, which version of Evolution are you running?
vfolder unread count is a known issue and the behavior should be better
with the package on Jaunty, could you test with it? thanks in advance.
