It's fixed for the desktop by changing the default mouse theme from
libgnome. Marking as duplicate of #27589 which is about the xorg cursor
theme

Same problem. I try with a newly created user.
This happend on my x86 laptop, but not on my ppc desktop.
On the laptop the cursor is black and on the desktop white.

Is your issue that the default cursor theme is used? Do you get the
cursor your want if you use system,preferences,mouse and pick the human
theme for it?

Human is the theme I'm using. I assumed that since it was the default
theme it would be in this package.
My issue is that the default pointing-finger cursor has changed from
5.10 to Dapper and the new one is much uglier.
