i have the same problem. i can reproduce it 100%. i do not run compiz.
not sure if this is relevant: i am opening nautilus with a mapped key
combination.

I am using compiz (0.8.2-0ubuntu5) and still have this after updating and
restarting. It is easy to reproduce as philinux says: log on, start firefox,
go to places-home, and it will open under firefox.
