I can confirm the same bug, on the same dell mini 9 ubuntu install.
Currently trying a workaround adding the xmodmap command to ~/.xsession

Gnome 2.22.3
I am not sure what the upgrade was. This install is on a dell mini 9
and apparently dell has changed the update manager so that it doesn't
display what it is upgrading. Is there another way of seeing what
packages have been recently updated?
