[Bug 38235] Re: [2.0beta3] Cannot send a picture by drag-n-dropping

2007-04-19 Thread Júlio Alexandrino
Using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn RC 20070415 here, fully upgraded. As of Gaim 2.0.0 beta 6, this problem seems to be fixed, as the popup window asks the user if he wants to apply the image as background image or send it to the other peer, as you can see with the included screenshot. Closing - open it

Yes! The current behavior just sucks. I've accidentally changed the avatar picture of one of my buddies and there is no obvious way to undo that. Drag-n-dropping an image should insert it into the conversation or start transferring it when possible. When will this be fixed? Do these bug reports go

I have tested this, and it is true that you cannot insert pictures (or other files) over certain protocols, such as Jabber or MSN. However, you can insert pictures (and only pictures) directly into the conversation in other protocols such as AIM. I think that for protocols that support inserting,

When you drag an image to the conversation window, the place where the buddy icon goes should expand so you have the option to drag it to there. -- [2.0beta3] Cannot send a picture by drag-n-dropping https://launchpad.net/bugs/38235 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com

It would only ask about setting an icon whenever file transfer isn't supported. Is that not what we're hitting here? do we have a protocol where file transfer is supported but it isn't asking which you want it to do? -- [2.0beta3] Cannot send a picture by drag-n-dropping

I have to agree that dragging an image, or indeed any file to the text are means you want to send it. Dragging it to the icon area could mean replace buddy icon with this one but seriously, how often do people do that at all? -- [2.0beta3] Cannot send a picture by drag-n-dropping

Luke, if you dnd an image the text areas of the dialog with ICQ it asks if you want to use it as icon or insert it to the message or send it, which is fine. If you do that for a jabber contact it only asks if you want to set an icon for the contact, which is probably what people expect from a dnd

He'd hit it with any of them. we made it ask when we made it possible to set a custom icon that way, since the icon itself is a small target. -- [2.0beta3] Cannot send a picture by drag-n-dropping https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/38235 -- desktop-bugs mailing list
