Sorry for the noise, but are you sure this is an upstream kernel issue? Comment #52 says the keys work fine with the mainline kernels 2.6.32. So either this is ubuntu kernel-specific or it has been solved upstream already (in which case ubuntu would need to backport a fix or upgrade the kernel

I found a workaround here: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=73889 I can change the brightness with setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=FF where FF is a brightest mode and 00:02.0 is from lspci | grep VGA. Now I can set the brightness using setpci, how can I make acpi to use this command? --
